Class Assignment: I was tasked with creating a poster based on a word we chose from a limited list.
I chose “love.”
Process
We began by creating a list of all the words we could think of that reminded us of the word we chose. We designed it with an obvious hierarchy to show what words are more important and obvious to the word we chose.
The next step was to start sketching. We created a few thumbnail sketches. I kept in mind the idea of "image and play" as was sketching. I played with some cropping-type designs to make the images more visually appealing. (see right)
The first set of digitized versions I made were based on the three sketches I made the day before.
The following sets were made the following morning after I wasn't completely satisfied with what I made before.
Final Design
My final image is meant to explain how love can feel. Love can feel suffocating; it can feel like you're drowning and there's nothing you can do. But love can also feel like a lifesaver, the thing that helps you be able to breathe again. And it can feel endless like a sky full of stars.
